You might think that the name “Grey Goo” is an odd one for a science fiction real-time strategy game. We promise there’s a logical reason.
The concept of “grey goo” is an apocalyptic one, in which all life as we know it comes screeching to a halt at the hands of self-replicating nanomachines. If you’re a Stargate SG-1 fan, this concept will seem familiar, as the Replicators were a regular series nemesis in the later years of the show.
They are also one of the three factions in Petroglyph’s upcoming title, along with humans and an alien species known as the Beta. The sentient Goo will test both the beta and humans, all while those two races continue to wage war.
