[Update] Ubisoft Targets Fixes For Four Common Assassin's Creed Unity Issues In Next Patch

Yesterday, we discussed some of the problems that Assassin's Creed Unity players are encountering while playing. Ubisoft has issued a statement regarding the matter, identifying four items that will be in the next patch.

The publisher says that the problem with players falling through the ground, crashes related to co-op, delays in the main menu loading, and Arno getting stuck inside hay carts are slated to be addressed first. The development team is also investigating frame rate problems, graphics issues (like the disappearing faces), matchmaking issues, and problems related to the game's in-app, real money transactions.

A day one update is available already, so if you are playing a retail copy of the game, make sure to connect your system to the Internet. For more on Assassin's Creed Unity, check out our review.

Update: Ubisoft also has an ongoing liveblog on which it is updating the status of identified and addressed issues.

Update 2: Ubisoft has announced that Patch 2, which will contain fixes for some of the major aforementioned issues, is currently wrapping up and will be deployed as soon as possible.

Our Take

It's a shame that so many titles are having huge problems this year. I expect that this is going to have an effect on consumer confidence. If that leads to people slowing down their purchases by a few days to make sure that publishers and developers got it right, that would send a potent message that players won't put up with this anymore.
