Amphora is a gorgeous, story-driven, physics-based puzzle game. It tells the story of a girl growing up, finding love, and the events of her family's life... all without a single word. Each puzzle is a scene, a slice of life illustrated with colorful cutouts inspired by shadow puppetry.
The player is an arm of smoke extending from a jar called an amphora in each scene. That jar is the center of a circle which limits the player's range of direct influence. That's where physics comes into play; the player must manipulate the objects they can reach and let physics do the rest. The player can do things like moving objects, drawing strings to connect things, and sticking objects in the middle of strings. It's never hard to figure out what the object of a given puzzle is, though it can be tricky to make it happen. Sometimes the solutions I came up with looked unrealistic and silly, but that's part of the fun of the game.
Amphora is available now for Windows. You can pick it up on Steam or directly from the developer via Humble Widget for $13.99.
