In addition to four full campaigns and every Halo map that appeared in those original games, Halo: The Master Chief Collection includes a map-maker. The Forge has been used by fans since Halo 3 to create custom maps and game types.
With the release of The Master Chief Collection earlier this month, a team of craftsmen have set out to recreate their favorite custom maps from Halo 3. A Reddit user by the name “GrammyOnReddit” (GrammyXBL on Xbox Live) has been doing much of the work.
The maps Trash Compactor (downloaded over 21,000 times in Halo 3), hide/seek town (downloaded over 58,000 times in Halo 3) and Jenga Tower (downloaded over 106,000 times in Halo 3). You can follow the group’s progress via Reddit.
If you can’t find him by gamertag (due to the ongoing problems with the game), the best way to download the maps is to play the campaign on Pillar of Autumn (Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary) on easy difficulty with score enabled. He should appear on the leaderboards.
Thanks to reader Devin for sending in this tip.

Our Take
It’s great to see the Halo community recreating some of its favorite custom maps in the new release. Hopefully, 343 Industries will complete its work repairing the matchmaking so these can be used to their fullest. Unfortunately, with tonight's apology from Bonnie Ross of 343, it might still be a while.
