Weekend Warrior 10/24/14

This weekend the Game Informer staff is participating in the annual Extra Life 24-hour livestream marathon for charity. The event will be chock-full of fun events and games of all varieties, which you can preview here. If you’re interested in donating, be sure to check out the Team Game Informer page. All proceeds go to the Children’s Miracle Network. Outside of watching us goof off on the livestream, what are you plans for the weekend?

Jeff Marchiafava: Besides stopping by to support our team during Extra Life and playing some potentially crappy games (depending on what donators pick for us to play at 4:00PM), I hope to put some more time into Shadow of Mordor this weekend. I’ve become completely obsessed with this game, and it’s on a very short list for my GOTY right now. I seriously can’t stop cutting off orc heads…well, except for last night when I accidentally fell asleep while reading rune descriptions in the menu. What can I say? I’m old.

Ben Hanson: This weekend is devoted to a 24-gaming marathon for charity called Extra Life, so (as the video guy) that naturally means that I won't be playing games this weekend. I'm going to be running the stream and trying not to fall asleep. We have a lot of dumb segments planned that should be a lot of fun to watch, so please tune in and donate to help those kiddies!

Jason Dafnis: I just got ahold of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance and Splinter Cell: Blacklist off of Craigslist. I think I’ll play those this weekend to celebrate not getting murdered by shopping on Craigslist.

Tim Turi: This weekend is Extra Life 2014! [] A bunch of Game Informer staff and friends will be livestreaming our 24-hour marathon. We’re going to be playing everything from Super Smash Bros. to the lowest-rated games in GI history to Pictionary. If we raise $20,000 for Children’s Miracle Network hospitals we’re even performing a live script reading of George A. Romero’s canceled Resident Evil film! Come and join the fun and help some kids!

Matthew Stolpe: I’ll be using this weekend’s Extra Life marathon to make a dent in my stack of shame. My tentative plan is to finally finish the endless endearing Transistor, as well as make more progress in Alien: Isolation (it’s so long!). Of course, I’m also hoping I get to live out my life’s dream of reading the George A. Romero’s Resident Evil script live during the marathon.

Mike Futter: This weekend, I’m settling in for some recent releases. I finally picked up Shadow of Mordor and I started streaming The Evil Within today. Expect me to stream a bit this weekend (maybe on Sunday) while everyone else rests up from Extra Life.
