Developer Aeria Games has announced that its free-to-play take on Warner Bros. F.E.A.R. franchise will be coming to Steam on October 17. After a closed beta, the team has made some tweaks and deemed the results ready for an official release.
The narrative of F.E.A.R. Online occurs parallel to F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin, and aims to retain the horror element while focusing on first-person shooter action. It has four-player cooperative combat and 10 maps, and a crafting system that allows you to make weapons. See more in the trailer below:

For anyone who played the beta and was underwhelmed, a press release from Aeria Games touts "an extensive redesign and gameplay adjustments," but we'll have to wait until October 17 to see how those promises hold up.
