If you're a PC gamer feeling the drought of gaming's summer months, Square Enix has just presented an opportunity for players to get acquainted with its hit Final Fantasy MMO. Starting today, players can download Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn free of charge for a 14-day free trial period.
Though you can carry over your character and progress to the full version should you decide to purchase it, the trial version comes with some limitations. For example, players won't be able to advance past level 20, and they won't be able to use the market board.
Free trial users also won't be able to log in to the official Lodestone community page. Visit the Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn support page for full details on the free trials' restrictions.

Our Take
It's a shame Square Enix limited the free trial to PC only, given the success A Realm Reborn has found on PS3 and PS4. Bringing its MMO to consoles helped rope in long-time Final Fantasy fans who might not have touched it otherwise, so it's a bit disappointing that Square Enix didn't sweeten the deal to attract even more potential players.
